Food for Thought

By and large, the wolf packs remained inside their territories, venturing out, only to test their boundaries and explore new opportunities.

Nowhere Man

On Friday, August 10th, 2018, at 7:32 p.m. a Horizon 76 seat Air Turbo Prop Q400 took off from Seattle-Tacoma airport. At the controls, Richard Russell, a 29-year-old Horizon Air ground crew member with no previous flight training experience.

Looting the Political Left

“Instead of fighting for the victory that was stolen from him, he praised the people who stole the victory from him. He was afraid to win. He didn’t want to win, and that’s why he’s never questioned his defeat.”

– Dmitry Babich, Political Analyst, Sputnik International, commenting on Bernie’s Sander’s Presidential campaign.

In my attempts to understand the failure of the left to capitalize on the 2016 progressive awakening, I’ve not come across a more concise critique of Bernie Sanders, and by extension his political and social media operatives, faux leftists’ stealthily shepherding disillusioned progressives back into the Democratic Party political tent.

More Than Nothing

Think Aja by Steely Dan. Classic-rock fusion: cultured; rock with harmony; driven yet laid back; half-time percussion with subtle high-hat nuance. Funky guitar; distinctive keyboard and saxophone riffs with intermittent double-time back beats thrown in for good measure. A seamless fusion of rock and jazz; a composition living between genres: old school and new wave. That’s my brother, Ric.  https://www.amazon.com/author/wilsonfrederico […]

Colosseum

Colin Kaepernick’s decision to sit during the national anthem sends a powerful message – to increase the volume and channel dissenting voices in the direction of a deaf (and dumb) nation.

An Elaborate Hustle

How many of you follow “The Young Turks?”  Sorry, you’ve been played.  Unless of course, you insist on getting news analysis from yet another assemblage of self-appointed “progressive activists” interpreting left-leaning political discourse.

State of Grace

If nature, as Ralph Waldo Emerson righteously proclaimed, is elemental and comprised of a commodity; beauty; language; and discipline.  Then ART, it follows, is nature refined and emblematic of; and, by the MIND of man ***Petra, our family’s Abuela (grandmother) – Yaqui Native-American –                    Painting, Dorothy […]

Only Women Can Save Us

It’s early April, a typical Seattle rainy afternoon. I’m staring out my home office window, nursing a Negra Modelo, and for no apparent reason my mind drifts to differences between men and women.     I’m a man. I know men. I’ve played with them, worked with them, competed against them, fought with and against […]

The Baker Inside Us

I’m a slice of marbled bread, surrounded by white loaves, captive in a baker’s rack, waiting to be displayed in the storefront counter. “Whiteness” in the appetite of man eludes and, at times, overwhelms me.  Embedded in every conceivable medium, archived for posterity, true or not. Its myths secure, legends immortalized, legacies glorified. What about the rye and pumpernickel […]

Bye-bye Bernie

Bernie, you damn near did the impossible. You showed us the Promised Land – just beyond the horizon. Thank you. Seriously, thank you. But you made the same mortal mistake all REFORMERS make. You believed you could start a revolution and right a corrupt system from WITHIN the castle.
